New York Fashion Week Vs. Paris Fashion Week: What's The Difference?

New York Fashion Week is always a reminiscent time for Starbaby . Starbaby hosted a show at New York Fashion Week in collaboration with Janique for the first time in 2013 and has been going strong ever since. Fashion week represents growth and a time of excitement for Starbaby as we look back on how much progress we have made in the past 9 years. Although we started at New York Fashion Week, many wonder how it differs from Paris Fashion Week. Let's break it down.

New York

New York launched the first ever fashion week. It all began in New York City back in the 1940s. In the present day, New York Fashion Week has evolved into the most media-covered fashion event of the entire year. Fashion week begins in New York, then in London and Milan, concluding in Paris. Celebrities from all over will fly in to get their photo taken attending NYFW. This fashion week holds the most number of shows and brands out of all the cities. Most shows are street-style or minimalist American brands showcasing their new lines. New York is the host to new talent and rising designers in the industry.

New York beats Paris in the number of shows hosted, but Paris hosts the most “big name” high-end brands. Paris during fashion week is the place to scope out a new collection of expensive brands like Channel, Dior, and Gucci. Paris Fashion Week is an important scene for buyers and designers to come and scope out the newest in high, prestigious fashion.

New York vs Paris

Both Paris and New York Fashion Week shows are filled with glamorous and exciting lines of what's new in fashion. A common way to compare and contrast the two cities' fashion weeks is through fashion items. NYFW is a tennis sneaker while PFW is a stiletto heel. Neither is better or worse, but they are different in unique ways. It is all dependent on what you are in the mood for and what excites you.
